Bey Rivals Guide

Surnames and Lucky Spins

Updated · Spins & parts

Quick answer

Your surname is your blader family: it gives stat boosts and a passive. You roll it with surname spins; Lucky Spins can't land a Common (Mythic 2.5%, Legendary 12.5%, Epic 30%, Rare 55%). There are 34 surnames; the Mythics are Shirasagi and De La Hora (new Oct 25). The current codes give 23 Lucky Spins.

How surnames work

Every blader family has its own power: a surname gives stat boosts and a passive, and some have a Legacy Bond with a specific Bey for extra stats. You roll surnames on the Surname tab of the spin screen — separate from the parts banners.

Normal surname spin Lucky Spin
Mythic 0.5% 2.5%
Legendary 3% 12.5%
Epic 10% 30%
Rare 26.5% 55%
Common 60% 0%

Rates from the in-game surname screen (Oct 18, one source ⚠️). “Lucky Spin never gives a Common” is also stated in the official shop. There’s a pity bar — the screen showed Legendary or better within 80 spins.

Lucky Spins from codes: the 8 current codes give 23 Lucky Spins — at 15% Legendary-or-better per spin, that’s about a 98% chance of at least one Legendary or Mythic surname.

Known surnames

The surname index lists 34 families: 1 Mythic, 3 Legendary, 4 Epic, 8 Rare and 18 Common (Oct 18) — plus De La Hora, a new Mythic added Oct 25.

Surname Rarity Effect
Shirasagi Mythic “The rarest family of all” — effect not shown yet
De La Hora Mythic New Oct 25 — effect not published yet
Kurena Legendary +2 ATK, +2 DEF; Crimson Eye: +12% burst damage vs Attack types, crushes need 9% less wear; Legacy Bond with Surge Spriggan: +2 ATK, DEF, STA ⚠️
Aoba — Never Give Up: while you’re spinning slower than your rival, +30% burst damage and −15% damage taken (official, Oct 22)
Shakadero — Named in the Oct 25 patch: with Xeno Excalion and Quake/Impact it could burst instantly — no longer
Kurogane, Kiyoyama Epic —
Nakagawa — +1 SPD, spins 2% longer ⚠️
Brunel — +2 DEF, −7% knockback taken ⚠️
Ogi Common —

⚠️ = one source. Oct 25 change: surnames no longer land critical hits — the ones that did now deal a little extra damage to worn-down Beys, “so nothing bursts a fresh bey instantly.”

Tips

FAQ

What are Lucky Spins in Bey Rivals?

Lucky Spins are surname spins that can't roll a Common surname. On the rate screen: Mythic 2.5%, Legendary 12.5%, Epic 30%, Rare 55%. You get them from codes (23 from the current ones) or buy them with Robux.

What is the best surname in Bey Rivals?

The Mythics — Shirasagi ('the rarest family of all') and De La Hora, added Oct 25 — are the rarest. Among known effects, Kurena (Legendary) is strong for Attack matchups and gets a bonus with Surge Spriggan, and Aoba's Never Give Up (+30% burst damage, −15% damage taken while you're spinning slower) is a comeback tool.

Is there surname pity?

Yes. The surname spin has a pity bar like the Standard banner's; the rate screen showed a Legendary or better within 80 spins.

Can surnames crit?

Not anymore. Since Oct 25 surnames no longer land critical hits; the ones that did now deal a little extra damage to worn-down Beys.

Can I keep a good surname and roll for another?

Yes — the Surname Slot (Robux) adds a second slot so you can keep one surname safe while spinning on the other.
